Exploring Our World: Interactive Resources for Geography Awareness Week

Geography isn’t just about maps; it’s about understanding the world we live in. Geography Awareness Week in November is the perfect opportunity to explore how natural processes shape our planet and see how everything is connected. From the cities we live in to the climate that influences our environment, geography helps us make sense of it all.

To support this, we’ve created two interactive sites for you to use with your students or as part of your teaching modules: one for Year 8, focusing on the formation of rivers and coasts, and one for Year 9, exploring glaciation and cold environments.

Feature-Glaciation

Each site is packed with engaging features, including mini quizzes, hotspots, galleries, homework questions, and a final longer quiz. The shorter quizzes work perfectly as low- or no-stakes tasks, helping students consolidate their knowledge in a fun and interactive way while giving you valuable feedback to inform your planning.

By sparking curiosity and building confidence, these resources have the potential to inspire the next generation of geographers, environmental scientists, conservationists, climate scientists or hydrologists – who knows! They’re not just tools for learning; they’re stepping stones toward exciting pathways and careers, all shaped by geography.
