World Book Day is celebrating its 20th birthday on Thursday 2nd March. Thousands of children and teachers will be getting dressed up as their favourite literary characters and taking part in activities to celebrate one of the most loved pastimes in the world.

There are not many things better than sitting down to read a great book and we want to inspire that same love of reading in the next generation.

Visit the World Book Day website for lots of great ideas on how your school can get involved from singing World Book Day songs, hosting a special themed assembly, and making your own books. There are even budget-busting ideas to bring your favourite characters to life through fancy dress; so there’s no excuse not to get involved.

How are we celebrating?

Here at Frog we consider a love of reading to be one that can last a lifetime, so we want to help you celebrate World Book Day!

By simply uploading pictures of your pupils in their costumes to social media (be sure to tag us @frogeducation and use the hashtag #FrogBooks) you and your school could win 35 tickets to watch the National Theatre’s stage production of Peter Pan at a cinema near you or a collection of books for your school’s library.

Free site for Frog Learn customers

Make World Book Day an interactive experience with help from North Lakes School, who have created a World Book Day site in Frog Learn that’s available to download and install from the Frog Store. The site is aimed at primary schools and includes a poll so children can vote for their favourite author, a photostream to take pictures throughout the day with Frog Snap, links to ‘Booky’ games, and message boards so children, parents, and teachers can discuss their favourite books and places to read. Visit the Frog Store to download for free.
